Тема урока: What do People Think about Their Countries?

 

Тип урока: повторительно-обобщающий.

 

Цели урока:

1)      Обобщение изученного материала по теме "Talking about Countries.”

2)      Формирование общей компетенции и гражданской позиции.

 

Задачи:

1)      Активизировать изученный материал по теме «Англоязычные страны».

2)      Совершенствовать умения и навыки устной речи, чтении, аудирования и письма.

3)      Обучать монологической речи.

4)      Создать на уроке атмосферу взаимодействия, подлинно коммуникативной обстановки, взаимной поддержки, доброжелательности, сотрудничества.

5)      Развивать память и расширить кругозор учащихся.

6)      Воспитать чувство патриотизма и прививать чувство уважения к другим странам.

7)      Повышать мотивацию обучения.

 

Оборудование: компьютер, мультимедиа, раздаточный материал, карточки с транскрипциями и буквами.

План урока

       I.      Оргмомент. Сообщение темы и целей урока.

    II.      Фонетическая зарядка.

 III.      Речевая зарядка. Активизация изученного материала по теме «Англоязычные страны».

  IV.      Групповая работа. Совершенствование навыков изучающего чтения.

     V.      Тренировка навыков устной, диалогической и монологической речи.

  VI.      Итоги урока. Домашнее задание.

 

Ход урока

 

I.  Оргмомент. Сообщение темы и целей урока.

 

- Good morning, dear boys, girls and our guests. I am glad to see you at our lesson. Today we are going to have a lesson "What do People Think about Their Countries?” We’ll speak about English-speaking countries and about the place we live – the Russian Federation and the Republic Bashkortostan. We’ll here and read different opinions of people about their countries. Are you ready to start?

 

II. Фонетическая зарядка.

 

- Let’s start with our pronunciation practice.

What sound is this? ( [ ei] ) In English a sound [ei] can often be spelt several ways: a, ai, ay, ei, ey.  The spelling may be vary, but the sound stays the same. Is it clear?

Listen to the words, repeat them, and try to memorise the differences.

- What sound is this? ( [    ] ) The sound [    ] can be spelt: ae, a(re), ea(r), ai(r), e(re).

III. Речевая зарядка. Активизация изученного материала по теме «Англоязычные страны».

- Time for speech drill.

- At the last lesson we spoke about English-speaking countries. Look at the screen. Could you tell me what they are? You can see flags and English-speaking countries.   Now match countries and these flags.

 

IV.Групповая работа. Совершенствование навыков изучающего чтения.

 

It is important and interesting to know what the English-speaking people think about their countries. Work in groups of 5, read one of the texts and discuss the questions. The tasks are in the sheets of paper. You have 5 minutes for task. Now we are ready to start.

1)      Ребята работают в 3-х группах по 5 человека. Читают текст и отвечают на вопросы.

1-ая группа.

Read the text about David and share information with your classmates, answer the questions:

-         Where is David from? (David is from the USA.)

-         Where is it situated? (The USA stretches from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and from Canada in the north to Maxico in the south).

-         What’s its capital? (The capital of the USA is Washington, though some people think it is New York).

-         What is its population? (The USA has the third largest population in the world).

-         What is its official language (or languages)? (English is the official language in the USA. But the English language spoken in the USA is known as American English ).

-         Are there any other languages spoken in this country? ( The second important language in the USA is Spanish).

 

2-ая группа.

Read the text about Roy and share information with your classmates, answer the questions:

-         Where is Roy from? (Roy is from Canada).

-         What’s its capital? (The capital of Canada is Ottawa).

-         What is its official language (or languages)? (There are two official languages in Canada, English and French).

-         What is the official emblem of Canada? (The maple leaf is the official emblem of Canada).

-         Where can you see the official emblem of Canada? (We can see it on the Canadian flag and on the back of famous hockey players).

 

3-яя группа.

Read the text about Laura and share information with your classmates, answer the questions:

-         Where is Laura from? (Laura is from Australia).

-         Where is it situated? (Australia lies between the Indian and Pacific Ocean)

-         What’s its capital? (The capital of Australia is Canberra).

-         What is its official language? (English is the official language in Australia. But English spoken in Australia is a bit different from British English and American English).

-         What is its population? (It is a large country, but its population is only 18.3 million people. There are "original Australians” who lived here long ago but most of population came to Australia from Britain? Ireland and other countries years ago. At present in Australia there are a lot of people from Russia).

Your time is up.

2)      Ребята рассказывают об англоязычных странах, используя вопросы в карточках.

 

Now, it’s time to share information with your classmates using the questions.

 

3)      Ребята продолжают работать группами. Заполняют пропуски в предложениях в карточках по теме «Россия».

 

It was interesting to know about other countries. Now, let’s share information about our country. Use the information in the box p. 42 and in your sheets of paper. Complete the sentences in your sheets of paper. You have 3 minutes. Start.

3. Russia stretches across …… time zones.

4. Most part of Russia has ………………climate with cold winters and hot summers.

5. The deepest lake in the world is ……

6. The symbols of Russia are…….

Ответы: 1) the Russian Federation; 2) Europe and Asia; 3) eleven; 4) temperate; 5) the Baikal; 6) the birch and the bear (The Russian Flag and the Double-Headed Eagle).

 

V. Тренировка навыков устной, диалогической и монологической речи.

Now we are going to speak about our Republic - Bashkortostan. Make up questions in your sheets of paper.

 

Fill in the gaps with What, Where, How many if it is necessary and make up questions.

 

- ...  is Bashkortostan situated?

- ...  cities are there in Bashkortostan?

- ...  is the capital of Bashkortostan?

- ...  s its population?

- ...  is its official language?

- Is ...  it agricultural or industrial region?

- ...  can you say about your nature?

-In ...  city do you live?

 

Teacher: Dear boys and girls, imagine that you live in London, you are English students. This morning we have a great opportunity to meet here Gusel’ and Ivan who arrived in London from Bashkortostan a few days ago. We are given a chance to enjoy asking questions about their country.

 

VI. Итоги урока.

-Our lesson is going to the end. I hope you have got a lot of information in our lesson. You were active and creative.
